Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care is 46 credits qualification and is designed to guide and assess the development of knowledge and skills relating to the health and social care workforce and can be used to confirm competence in these areas in a wide range of job roles. This qualification is designed to equip learners with the skills and knowledge needed to care for others in a broad range of health or social care settings.

This qualification is designed to provide a career path for learners who wish to develop their care capabilities within the health and social care sector. The Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care is flexible to suit all fields of health and social care.
Learners can select a pathway that suits their role - for example, mental health, Dementia, Learning Disabilities, Challenging Behaviour, Elderly, Domiciliary and General pathways
There is 9 mandatory units at level 2 :

  1. Introduction to communication in health, social care or children's and young people's settings
  2. Introduction to personal development in health, social care or children's and young people's settings
  3. Introduction to equality and inclusion in health, social care or children's and young people's settings
  4. Principles of safeguarding and protection in health and social care
  5. The role of the health and social care worker
  6. Implement person-centred approaches in health and social care
  7. Contribute to health and safety in health and social care
  8. Handle information in health and social care settings
  9. Introduction to duty of care in health, social care or children's and young people's settings.

Career progression

The Level 4 Diploma in Adult Care is a 70 credits qualification and is for 9-12months. This qualification is designed for Team Leaders, Care Coordinators and Senior Carers who work in the Care setting. Those who have supervisory positions in nursing homes, supported living, day centres, and some clinical healthcare settings.

The course will provide learners with knowledge, skills and behaviours in management of a range of health and social care, operations and functions and challenges. It will introduce Learners to theory, practice and models that will provide valuable knowledge.

Learners can select a pathway that suits their role - for example, mental health, Leadership, Mentoring, Dementia, Learning Disabilities, Challenging Behaviour, Elderly, Domiciliary and General pathway.

There are 13 Mandatory units for the Level 4 Diploma:

  1. Working in partnership with others in adult care settings
  2. Lead practice for managing and disseminating records and reports
  3. Equality diversity and inclusion in health, social care or children's and young people's settings
  4. Understand safeguarding and protection in adult care settings
  5. Lead Communication in adult care settings
  6. Facilitate support planning to ensure positive outcomes for individuals and to support wellbeing

Level 5 - Diploma in Leadership and Management for Adult Care

Course Overview

The Level 5 Diploma in Adult Care is a 80 credits qualification and is for 9-12months.
The qualification will equip learners with the underpinning knowledge, understanding and skills required for a career in the health and social care sector at a managerial level. It also enables learners to demonstrate their skills by producing evidence from their work or training activities. Learners will acquire care management skills in the Health and Social Care sector.


Description


This qualification was specifically developed for those managing an adult social care service, including the role of registered manager. Learners will need to demonstrate an in-depth understanding and effective practice in leadership and management for adult care services. The qualification can be used to develop the knowledge and skills of care managers in a range of services including, but not limited to, residential services for older people and people with disabilities, domiciliary care services, day services, respite services and community-based services.

This qualification is required for individuals working in management and leadership roles, such as Registered Managers, Supported Living Managers, etc. It also provides a natural next step for those who have completed a Level 4 Diploma, and it can also support and develop Assistant Managers and Deputy Managers where there is opportunity to demonstrate knowledge and skills at Level 5 within their role.


Career progression

Upon successful completion of Level 5 Diploma in Health and Social Care Management qualification learners will be eligible to gain entry into Year 3 of a three-year UK Bachelor’s degree or pursue Level 6 Diploma in Health and Social Care Management.
